/ FAQ

Short answers, with the same boundary as the rest of the site.

If the answer depends on your drawings, the FAQ stops and the intake starts.

Are Daily Code Talk posts a code opinion for my project?

No. They are educational readings of the 2024 IMC and 2026 NEC as model codes. The legally adopted Florida Building Code edition, local amendments, listings, and the AHJ path control the project. Sealed work requires a written engagement.

Which Florida Building Code is in effect?

As of September 2026, the 8th Edition (2023) remains the statewide enforced code. The 9th Edition is scheduled for December 31, 2026. Confirm at floridabuilding.org. Daily Code Talk teaches 2024 IMC as preparation, not as the review standard for an 8th-Edition set.

What is the Florida PE number?

Florida PE 95945 is published because it is already public on the principal’s LinkedIn. Confirm current status on MyFloridaLicense / FBPE. A street address is still not printed.

Where do I verify the PE?

Florida PE 95945. License page with MyFloridaLicense / FBPE links. A street address is not published.

Can I upload CAD to the contact form?

No. Send a Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or AccuNet share link. FormSubmit is not a CAD vault.

Is Electrical Building Recertification the same as the 40-year / milestone inspection?

No. Miami-Dade Electrical Building Recertification is a County electrical path. Florida’s structural milestone inspection is a different statute and a different professional. Send the notice you actually received.

Do the field tools size my equipment?

No. Helpers that turn a vague question into a better inquiry. They do not size equipment, do not set a recertification due date, and do not replace the adopted Florida Building Code or the PE of record.

How are fees set?

Fixed fee after written scope review. See How an engagement works. Nothing on the site is a quote.

Is makeup air the same as outdoor air?

No. IMC 508 replacement air for a Type I hood is not Table 403 dining OA and not an undercut door. See the makeup-air hub.

Does a change of occupancy keep the existing HVAC?

Not automatically. A new use can rewrite outdoor air, exhaust, plumbing, grease, and electrical. See change of occupancy MEP.

Where is the pre-submittal checklist?

Printable pre-submittal. It is educational, not a completeness stamp.

Does Miami-Dade review Broward projects the same way?

No. FBC is statewide; the AHJ is not. Name city and county. See Miami-Dade vs Broward.

Does every medical office need ASHRAE 170?

Not automatically. IMC 407 is ambulatory care and Group I-2 — most restrictive of 407, 170, and NFPA 99. See 407 rooms.

Is a residential range in a restaurant still IMC 505?

No. Domestic appliances used commercially follow Type I / Type II (507), not 505. See 505 vs 507.

Do attics and crawl spaces need a ventilation calculation?

Yes if you claim IMC 406. Natural IBC openings or mechanical exhaust ≥ 0.02 cfm/ft² with a supply path and RH enable > 60%. See uninhabited spaces.

Is a factory-built chimney the same as a metal chimney?

No. IMC 805 is a listed factory-built system. IMC 806.1 sends metal chimneys to NFPA 211. See 805 and 806.

Do you work in Spanish?

Yes. Intake, recertification, septic, well, TI, FAQ, what-to-send, and About/Process pages exist in Spanish. Daily Code Talk posts include Spanish titles and summaries.
