Code Relief is not amnesty. Construction must have commenced prior to March 1, 2002. The current owner is responsible. You still get a current-code life-safety overlay and an as-built certificate that names its method. Original Masterbuild writing — not a County form. Packet: Code Relief PDF · ES. We do not seal structural soundness of unpermitted work. MEP as-built readiness is a written scope after the responsible professional confirms authority for THAT building.
- Open permit, inspections never called. Reissue under 02-44 with original plans from Microfilm — or a new contractor / owner-builder.
- No permit. As-built plans (site, floor, trade detail) plus evidence of when (aerials, tax, survey).
- County-published current-code overlay (confirm live): means of egress, shutters, hard-wired smoke detectors, ground-fault interrupter (GFI), full-size temperature-and-pressure (T&P) relief on water heaters, accessibility, gas piping bonded to ground, handrails per Zoning, federal/state preemptive requirements.
- As-built certificate: structurally sound (a structural professional); code at commencement with that date named; current overlay; matches approved plans; narrative of methodology.
- Switching contractors is the County Hold Harmless letter — we do not host or fill it. Use the live County PDF.
Fire and Water and Sewer may still review. Masterbuild does not take on Water and Sewer as a service. Fire is a second desk: MEP fee navigator.

Hard-wired smokes, GFI, T&P, and gas bonding are still current-code. Structural still needs its own professional.
What to send
Folio, what was built, any evidence of the year, whether a permit number exists, and which trades are open.
If the addition has been there since before 2002 and nobody can find the plans
Send the folio and what you know. Masterbuild will say whether MEP as-built readiness is even on the path — not whether the building qualifies for Code Relief.
