A warehouse fan over a dip tank is not 502.7.
A dip tank is not a spray booth with the gun unplugged. IMC 502.7.3.5–502.7.7: ventilate dipping, electrostatic, and powder-coating operations so vapors stay well below hazardous levels. Each booth or room gets its own exhaust to outdoors unless the manifold rules are actually met. Non-sparking fan wheels. Motors out of the airstream. A warehouse fan over the tank is not that path. Do not call it “spray” on the schedule and hope 502.7.3’s gun interlock covers a tank that never had a gun.

Distinct from 502.7 spray (gun dies if the fan dies), 502.12 enclosed coating (1 cfm per square foot at the floor), and 503 fan hardware. This is not a dip-tank design and not a cfm. - Name the process: dipping, electrostatic, or powder. “Paint room” is not a row.
- Each booth or room: its own exhaust to outdoors unless the strict manifold conditions are documented. Do not manifold into toilet exhaust or house return.
- Fan construction: non-sparking wheels. Motors out of the airstream. 503 still governs the listing if the exhaust is hazardous.
- The educational test is vapors well below hazardous levels — not a restroom cfm, and not the 1 cfm/ft² that belongs to 502.12 coating.
On the set: tag the tank or powder booth, show dedicated outdoor exhaust, and name 502.7.7 on M-601. If someone wrote “per 502.7 spray,” that is the comment — there is no gun to interlock.

Or three tanks on one environmental riser. Process first. Then the fan. Then whether 509 even applies. Spray interlock is a different 502.7.3 sentence.

Whether this is a dip tank, an electrostatic line, or a powder booth; whether each has its own outdoor exhaust; and a cut of the fan (wheel material, motor in or out of the airstream).
If the tank only has a warehouse fan
Send a photo of the tank and the nearest fan. Masterbuild will say whether 502.7.7 still has no dedicated outdoor exhaust — or 502.7.7 still treats a dip tank as a spray booth.
