911.1 General

Install the selected duct furnace according to its manufacturer's instructions. An electric duct furnace must comply with UL 1996. The installation details depend on the selected equipment, so a generic duct-heater note is not enough to verify the proposed arrangement.

Coordinate the duct layout

Record the manufacturer and model in the equipment schedule. Compare the duct plan and installation detail with product data before the duct route, service access or adjacent construction is fixed.

What changes in the field

A duct furnace sits inside the air-distribution path. A change in model can change required installation geometry and force a duct redesign if the schedule and layout were developed independently.

Field check

Record manufacturer and model before finalizing duct layout.

Check required installation geometry in product data.

Verify UL 1996 compliance for an electric unit.
