Farm loads: identify the buildings and motors
Sections 120.100–120.103 address farm buildings, equipment and common-service combinations. Separate the dwelling calculation from other farm loads where required. Record each building’s actual equipment, largest motor and operating relationship before applying any farm demand table.
Health care: circuit purpose matters
Sections 120.110–120.111 include demand provisions for qualifying health care receptacles and patient-care equipment circuits. Eligibility depends on the circuit voltage, rating and what it supplies. Do not apply a patient-care factor to unrelated hospital loads or presume a whole facility qualifies.
Marinas: count receptacles, not just pedestals
Section 120.120 addresses shore-power receptacle demand. A single pedestal may contain multiple receptacles with different ratings. Inventory the installed and proposed receptacles, count them under the table’s conditions, and calculate other marina loads by their applicable provisions.
Field check
- Walk the farm or obtain reliable building and equipment schedules; identify motor operation.
- Confirm the purpose and rating of each health care circuit before applying a specialized factor.
- Inspect marina pedestal configurations and count actual shore-power receptacles.
